The hygienist will show you how to look after your teeth and develop a home care plan so that your teeth remain free from plaque & healthy in the future. You will be advised on the best tooth brushing technique and given tips on flossing and using interdental brushes. They will give you specific preventative advice including: nutritional guidance, smoking cessation, etc.

Dental hygiene at our practice also functions preventatively to treat gum disease and bad breath. If you have a bridge, denture, orthodontic treatment or a dental implant you will have specific hygiene needs that the hygienist will be able to assist you with.

Airflow – Teeth Stain Removal

Airflow polishing is the ideal way to remove the stains and discolouration caused by smoking or by drinking and eating rich in colour drinks and food (red wine, tea and coffee) while thoroughly removing dental plaque.

The innovative Airflow polishing technique uses a mix of water, compressed air and fine powder particles. This method is far superior to traditional cleaning methods that use scraping tools, rubber cups and polishing discs and which can be uncomfortable.

Why Dental Airflow

  1. More effective cleaning (faster and easier plaque removal than a scale and polish)

  2. Pain-free treatment

  3. Prevents caries, gingivitis and periodontitis (gum disease). It also reaches into periodontal pockets to eliminate bacteria that can cause significant dental problems

  4. Makes whitening procedures more effective by removing build-up that could hinder bleaching

  5. Minimally invasive and comfortable procedure: Anyone who has ever cringed as a scraping tool digs into their gums or a polishing disc presses onto tooth enamel will welcome air polishing for its painless, fast and non-invasive method of cleaning.

  6. Reduces teeth sensitivity: The temperature of the water can be adjusted which is perfect for people who have sensitive teeth. The tiny micro-particles of powder can actually fill any exposed dentine tubules and reduce dental sensitivity. Airflow polishing can also encourage the re-mineralization of damaged teeth.

  7. Ideal complex cleaning for kids

  8. Ideal for use before orthodontic treatment. Airflow polishing is an ideal way of cleaning before procedures that require bonding and the use of sealants as it removes nearly 100 percent of bacteria and endotoxins. Not only that, but traditional polishing pastes contain glycerin that can interfere with bonding procedures.

  9. Brighter and healthier smile after just a single visit

  10. It can be used on veneers, crowns, bridges and implants.
